Indonesia is prioritizing the enhancement of human resources as a strategic approach to sustain national economic growth. Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara emphasized this during the DBS Asian Insights Conference 2024: Post-Election Economic Strategies and Sustainable Future Towards Golden Indonesia 2045. He highlighted that 20% of the State Budget (APBN) is allocated for education, with IDR 665.02 trillion designated for the education sector in the 2024 APBN. This figure is expected to rise to between IDR 708.2 trillion and IDR 741.7 trillion in the following year. A key initiative under this commitment is the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) program, which provides scholarships for higher education both domestically and internationally. Suahasil reaffirmed the government's dedication to advancing education for the future of Indonesia's human resources. Besides education, the government is also focused on improving human resources through the health sector, with a budget of IDR 185.2 trillion allocated in the 2024 APBN. The 2025 health budget is projected to be between IDR 191.5 trillion and IDR 217.8 trillion.
The health budget will support the effectiveness of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program, reduce stunting and infectious diseases, strengthen health facilities, and provide additional nutritional support for toddlers and pregnant women, as outlined in the Macroeconomic Framework and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) document. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati presented the KEM-PPKF to the House of Representatives (DPR) during a Plenary Session on May 20. This document serves as a reference for drafting the financial notes and the 2025 State Budget (APBN). The overarching goal is to create a resilient, innovative, and globally competitive workforce, which will contribute significantly to national economic growth and provide widespread economic benefits for Indonesian society.
