The International Tourism Investment Forum (ITIF) 2024, endorsed by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, aims to advance sustainable tourism investment in Indonesia. Scheduled for June 5-6, 2024, at Swissotel PIK, Jakarta, ITIF focuses on "Elevating Tourism Investment for Sustainable Growth." This second edition follows the inaugural event held in Nusa Dua, Bali, in 2023. ITIF serves as a platform for promoting sustainable tourism, aligning with Indonesia's commitment to planet, people, and prosperity. Deputy Minister of Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Rizki Handayani, highlighted ITIF's significance, emphasizing the inclusion of side events like roundtable sessions with delegations from countries such as India and Russia. These sessions discuss investment opportunities in Indonesia's tourism sector and showcase local projects to potential investors. The forum aims to attract foreign investment to accelerate growth in Indonesia's tourism industry. Sri Endang Novitasari, Director of Promotion for the Americas and Europe at the Ministry of Investment (BKPM), noted the rapid recovery of tourism investment post-COVID-19, with a 46% increase in 2021 after a 35% decline during the pandemic. This upward trend underscores the promising outlook for tourism investment in Indonesia. Endang emphasized ITIF's role in attracting more foreign investment to the sector.
Triawan Munaf, Vice Chairman of the Tourism and Creative Economy Sector at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), expects ITIF to drive increased foreign investment, enabling rapid and substantial growth in Indonesia's tourism sector. He views ITIF as a collaborative effort between the government and the private sector to stimulate investment and achieve sustainable growth. Interested parties, including tourism stakeholders and investors, can register for ITIF on its official website itif.co.id. Ridha Wirakusumah, Chairman of the Board of Directors/CEO of the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), also attended the event, underlining the government's commitment to promoting tourism investment. In conclusion, ITIF 2024 represents a significant opportunity to attract foreign investment, drive sustainable growth, and position Indonesia as a leading destination in the global tourism market.
