The Ministry of Trade hosted the 14th Gambir Trade Talk (GTT) Policy Dialogue of 2024, themed "Impact of Technology Decoupling Policies and the Friendshoring Phenomenon on Indonesia's Foreign Trade Performance," in a hybrid format at the Borobudur Hotel in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 15. The event was inaugurated by Kasan, Head of the Trade Policy Agency. In his opening remarks, Kasan highlighted that Indonesia should leverage the Technology Decoupling Policies and the Friendshoring Phenomenon to accelerate economic diversification, reduce dependency on commodity exports, and develop high-value-added sectors such as technology, manufacturing, and services, as well as other strategic industries. The Gambir Trade Talk Policy Dialogue is a regular forum organized by the Trade Policy Agency (BK Perdag) to support the formulation of policy recommendations at the Ministry of Trade. The event featured speakers Kiki Verico (Associate Professor of International Economics at FEB UI), Moh. Faisal (Executive Director of CORE Indonesia), and David Christian (Research Associate at ERIA), with Eduardo Simorangkir (Economic Editor at Detik.com) serving as moderator. Approximately 150 participants attended GTT #14, including representatives from various ministries/agencies, business practitioners, and academics.
