Opening Representatives in 5 Countries, Indonesia's Creative Economy Expands to Europe

The National Creative Economy Movement (Gekrafs) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding into several European countries and the UK to promote Indonesia's creative economy internationally. The Chairman of Gekrafs, Kawendra Lukistian, announced that this expansion is marked by the successful establishment of the Foreign Representative Councils (DPLN) in five countries: the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. "This strategic expansion, marked by inaugurations held between April 27 and May 1, 2024, is a significant milestone in Gekrafs' efforts to promote Indonesia's creative industry on the global stage”, Kawendra stated in his announcement on Monday, May 13, 2024. He confirmed that each inauguration event was attended by prominent Indonesian figures in those countries, including Indonesian Ambassadors and local government officials, underscoring the importance of cooperation in the creative sector. "These events not only highlighted Indonesia's rich culture but also paved the way for future collaboration and exchange of creative products," Kawendra added.

He emphasized that the establishment of these five Foreign Representative Councils signifies that Indonesia's creative economy should not be underestimated. According to him, this crucial moment also represents Gekrafs' ongoing mission to position Indonesia as a global leader in the development of the creative economy. "Through these Gekrafs DPLNs, we aim to nurture a dynamic ecosystem that supports Indonesian creatives in Europe and beyond. The ultimate goal is to make Indonesia the epicenter of the global creative economy, as the creative economy is the future of Indonesia, and the dignity of its practitioners must be upheld," he said. Dr. Andri Hadi, the Indonesian Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union, remarked that with Gekrafs, Indonesians in Belgium can build a strong, mutually supportive network, which is crucial for advancing Indonesia's creative economy. "This solid network opens numerous opportunities for cooperation, cultural exchange, and joint innovation, ultimately benefiting all parties," he stated. The Foreign Representative Councils will serve as vital networking hubs for sharing best practices and promoting Indonesian culture and creativity. They will also facilitate the integration of Indonesian creative products into the European market, enhancing their visibility and accessibility.
