Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, stated that Indonesia is ready to compete in the global health tourism industry through the Bali International Hospital (BIH). "The construction of BIH is a commitment to realizing President Joko Widodo's vision of making Indonesia a world-class health tourism destination. BIH is expected not only to become a leading hospital in Indonesia but also to attract international patients to seek treatment in Indonesia," said Erick in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. During his visit to BIH today, Erick closely inspected the progress of the emergency department, radiotherapy areas such as Linac and Brachytherapy, and the radiology area equipped with modern medical equipment like DR X-ray, CT scan, 3 Tesla MRI, and 1.5 Tesla MRI. "This is a crucial step in the development of healthcare infrastructure in Indonesia. We must commit to providing the best healthcare services and contribute to strengthening Indonesia's image as a global health tourism destination," he added.
Meanwhile, the President Director of Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC), Mira Dyah Wahyuni, stated that BIH is being built to enhance the quality of healthcare services in Indonesia. IHC, as the holding company for state-owned hospitals, will continue to strive to make BIH a hospital with international service standards. "BIH is committed to providing excellent and quality services in cardiology, oncology, neurology, gastroenterohepatology, and orthopedics (CONGO)," said Mira. BIH is targeted for completion by September 2024. The hospital is expected to pioneer bringing Indonesia onto the international stage in the health tourism industry.
