The government, through the IKN Authority, aims to realize foreign investment in the Nusantara Capital (IKN), East Kalimantan, this year. The authority asserts that foreign investor interest in the area is significant. The government targets IDR 100 Billion in investment by the end of this year from both public and private sectors. However, by the end of 2023, only IDR 47.5 Billion had been realized. The investment scheme in IKN that attracts foreign investors the most is the "government cooperation with business entities" (KPBU) scheme. KPBU involves a lengthy process due to the feasibility study aspect that needs to be evaluated jointly with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, followed by bidding and subsequent procedures.
