Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno disclosed the latest data regarding international tourist arrivals and the tourism sector's performance for March 2024. In "The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno" on Monday, May 6, 2024, Minister Sandiaga revealed that the number of international tourist arrivals in March 2024 totaled 1.04 million visits. This figure marks a decrease of 1.91% compared to February 2024. However, it reflects a significant increase of 19.86% compared to the same month last year.
Of the 1.04 million visits, tourists mainly originated from Malaysia, accounting for 15.38%, followed by Australia at 11.92%, and Singapore at 11.52%. Cumulatively, international tourist arrivals from January to March 2024 increased by 25.43% compared to the same period last year (YoY). Notably, significant increases were recorded at Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, with a growth of 31.49%, and Soekarno Hatta Airport, Banten, with a growth of 33.03%. Regarding hotel occupancy rates, star-rated hotel occupancy in March 2024 reached 43.41%, with an average length of stay of 1.7 nights. Minister Sandiaga expressed gratitude for these figures, anticipating their positive impact on the development of the tourism sector and the creative economy.
