The footwear market in Indonesia presents promising prospects. Citing Statista.com data, Indonesia's footwear market is projected to reach USD 5.49 billion by 2024. Among this figure, the leather footwear segment contributes the most, accounting for approximately USD 2.34 billion. The annual growth rate of the footwear market stands at 5.50%. Statista.com notes that the volume of the footwear market is expected to continue rising to 314.50 million pairs by 2028.
Environmentally friendly footwear products are currently gaining significant consumer interest. Additionally, locally made footwear tends to be the preferred choice among consumers. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the performance of Indonesia's leather and footwear industry exports weakened in 2023. Throughout 2023, the volume of national leather and footwear exports reached around 376.2 thousand tons, declining by 14.24% Year on Year (YoY) compared to 2022. Meanwhile, the export value decreased by 15.29% YoY to USD 7.6 billion.
