Dewan Kerajinan Nasional (Dekranas) Provinsi Sulawesi Barat (Sulbar) is committed to supporting the development of community handicraft businesses in the region. Faisal Thamrin, the Secretary of Dekranasda Sulbar, stated that they have been assisting local handicraft businesses in Sulbar in marketing their products. Collaborating with Koperindag Sulbar and Bank Perwakilan Sulbar, Dekranasda Sulbar has provided training to empower local handicraft businesses in Sulbar to market their products online. Thamrin highlighted that through online marketing, Sulbar's handicrafts can gain wider recognition beyond the region, reaching nationwide and even global audiences.
The commitment of Dekranasda is not only to expand the market but also to enhance the quality of handicraft products, aiming to improve the welfare of artisans in Sulbar. The region boasts handicraft businesses specializing in furniture and woven fabrics like "Sekomandi" and "Sutera Mandar," which hold significant value and appeal when marketed online. Thamrin emphasized the cultural richness of Sulbar's woven fabrics, which, when marketed effectively, can substantially boost the income of local artisans. Dekranasda Sulbar aims to realize these goals in collaboration with stakeholders, striving to uplift the socio-economic status of Sulbar's handicraft community.
