Construction is a significant contributor to investment realization in Indonesia, as per data from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM. Domestic Investment (PMDN) in the construction sector amounted to IDR 5.29 trillion across 33,125 projects. Meanwhile, Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) stood at USD 182.1 million or approximately IDR 2.73 trillion (at an exchange rate of IDR 15,000) across 1,454 projects.
In terms of PMA, the construction sector ranks 17th out of 23 sectors, while PMDN ranks 13th. Consequently, the total investment realization in the construction sector for Q1-2024 reached IDR 8.02 trillion. For context, the overall investment realization in Indonesia for Q1-2024 amounted to IDR 401.5 trillion, comprising IDR 204.4 trillion from PMA and IDR 197.1 trillion from PMDN. These investments collectively created job opportunities for 547,419 Indonesian workers.
