PT Sunra Asia Pacific Hi-Tech, also known as Sunra Indonesia, has commenced the construction of an electric motorcycle factory in the Kendal Industrial Zone, Central Java. The groundbreaking ceremony held on Friday (3/5) marked the initiation of this development. Zhang Chongshun, Chairman of Sunra Group, emphasized that the establishment of Sunra Indonesia's factory signifies a conducive investment climate, particularly in the electric two-wheeler vehicle industry. With a planned investment of USD 120 million, Sunra Indonesia's factory underscores the company's commitment to product quality and improved after-sales service. Spanning across 12.7 hectares, Sunra Indonesia's factory will be completed in two phases, with an estimated construction period of 18 months. Operations are expected to commence in 2025, with an annual production capacity of 1 million electric two-wheeler vehicles after full operation.
The factory will conduct four primary production processes, including frame manufacturing, welding, painting, final assembly, and will be equipped with motorcycle and battery pack workshops. The initial construction phase covers 100,000 square meters. Upon completion, Sunra Indonesia aims to actively integrate supply chain resources, create a supply chain ecosystem, and encourage more supporting manufacturers to localize production in Indonesia. The factory is anticipated to employ 1,500 local workers, thereby creating employment opportunities for the surrounding communities. Zhang reiterated that the factory's construction reflects Sunra Indonesia's support and commitment to government programs and visions, including the realization of environmentally friendly and low-carbon industry and transportation strategies. "We aspire to make a significant contribution to government programs and expedite the establishment of an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia," stated Zhang.
