Deputy Minister of Trade Prepares Collaboration for Indonesian and Egyptian Palm Oil Trade

Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga revealed that the Indonesian government is currently preparing a trade collaboration between Indonesia and Egypt in the palm oil sector. During his visit to the palm oil processing company Savco in the 10 Ramadan industrial zone, Sharqia Province, Egypt, last Saturday (27/4), Deputy Minister Jerry expressed this initiative. Present at the event were Savco's President Director, Ammar Aboullaban, and the Trade Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, M. Syahran Bhakti S. Last year, Savco visited Sinar Mas, one of Indonesia's palm oil companies, expressing interest in becoming Sinar Mas' agent in Egypt and importing Indonesian bulk oil, amounting to 5,000 tons monthly for delivery to Adabya Port in Egypt. Deputy Minister Jerry stated that they are preparing a trade collaboration with Savco in response to this interest.

Deputy Minister Jerry welcomed Savco's interest in collaborating with Sinar Mas in the palm oil sector, emphasizing the potential benefits of such collaboration and encouraging other Egyptian palm oil companies to join. He emphasized that this collaboration signifies progress in Indonesia-Egypt relations, with the Indonesian government in Egypt facilitating collaboration between Savco and one of Indonesia's largest palm oil producers. According to Deputy Minister Jerry, the largest exports of palm oil commodities to Egypt are refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD) products. RBD, processed under high pressure, contributes significantly, accounting for 31% of Indonesia's total exports to Egypt, with a value of USD 1.31 billion.
