The Secretary of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Sarwo Edhy, disclosed that the actual import of beef has only reached 29,788 tons, approximately 21% of the total import permits issued, amounting to 144,141 tons. He made this announcement during a coordination meeting on inflation control on Monday (29/4). Sarwo stated, "Only 21% or 29,788 tons have been realized, leaving 79% yet to be fulfilled." Of the total imported beef, 14,082 tons have been distributed for consumption purposes. Specifically, 599.67 tons were allocated to Sumatra, 11,800 tons to Java, 580 tons to Sulawesi, 167.47 tons to Bali-NTT-NTB, 155.27 tons to Maluku, and 186.23 tons to Papua.

Sarwo highlighted that distribution is highest to Java and lowest to Maluku. To ensure supply and price stabilization, Bapanas has summoned 65 beef importers who have obtained import permits from the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag). They urge importers to expedite their import assignments and accelerate the distribution of imported beef within Indonesia.
