LPEI Urges 104 SMEs to Expand Export Markets in Early 2024

The Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI), also known as Indonesia Eximbank, has facilitated 104 Indonesian exporters in securing new buyers from various countries with business deals worth up to IDR 1 billion. LPEI encourages a wide range of Indonesian products, from fashion, home decor, furniture, food and beverages to spice commodities, to venture into the global market. From January to March 2024, LPEI conducted 14 business matching sessions involving over 500 export-oriented SMEs with potential buyers from various countries, including Canada, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, and Australia. Ilham Mustafa, Head of LPEI's Consultation Services Division, emphasizes LPEI's close collaboration with Trade Attachés, the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), Export Associations, Export Centers in Surabaya, and the Indonesian diaspora to facilitate SMEs in accessing global markets. This effort aligns with LPEI's goal of supporting the government in boosting national exports. Ilham further adds that besides connecting with potential international buyers, LPEI also provides SMEs with insights into identifying new business opportunities and forming sustainable partnerships. The primary objective is to empower SMEs to compete globally through expanding into foreign markets and enriching their experience in interacting with international buyers.

Another successful case is an SME from Payakumbuh, West Sumatra, which promoted rendang products internationally through LPEI's business matching event. Previously, small business owner Yulianah from Bogor expressed gratitude for LPEI's assistance in her venture. Under the Coaching Program for New Exporters (CPNE) by LPEI, her micro-enterprise, Jakarta Candle, successfully exported products to Singapore and Australia. Yulianah credits LPEI for providing valuable insights and promotional opportunities that significantly boosted her sales and expanded her market reach. Furthermore, LPEI's collaboration with the East Java Provincial Government has led to the establishment of three new Devisa Village clusters in Bojonegoro and Gresik, focusing on home decor crafts, rattan products, and crackers. These initiatives aim to enhance local prosperity and expand access to export markets, ultimately increasing the income of these village communities. LPEI continues to provide technical support to artisans, including implementing export production standards, benchmarking visits to successful international factories, and encouraging participation in international exhibitions. Through these efforts, LPEI aims to empower artisans to compete globally and penetrate export markets successfully.
