The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan establishes cooperation in the field of healthcare with Australia.

The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan has reaffirmed its collaboration with The University of Adelaide, Australia, to enhance human resources in the field of health education. According to the Provincial Secretary of East Kalimantan, Sri Wahyuni, this partnership, which has been ongoing for 15 years, was renewed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Governor's Office in Samarinda. The MoU was signed by Sri Wahyuni and Acting Executive Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering, and Technology, Professor David Lewis. This collaboration encompasses education, health, and research, with the provincial government having previously sent around 20 healthcare workers for training in Australia last year.

The focus of the training, as emphasized by Sri, is on preventive healthcare measures rather than curative treatment. Through this collaboration, the aim is to develop healthcare professionals who can provide health education to the community, thus reducing the reliance on curative treatments. Another advantage of this partnership is the opportunity for healthcare workers from East Kalimantan to conduct research supported by both the provincial government and Australian higher education institutions. This includes supervision and research support related to education and health in East Kalimantan provided by The University of Adelaide. Sri Wahyuni also mentioned that the provincial government will evaluate the 15-year collaboration to assess its impact on the community, particularly in the fields of health and education. The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from various higher education institutions in East Kalimantan and Airlangga University Surabaya, and concluded with the exchange of souvenirs between Sri Wahyuni and Professor David Lewis.
