Banjarmasin Customs Office Partners with MSMEs for Ornamental Plant Exports

Banjarmasin Customs Office is actively supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the ornamental plant business to facilitate regular exports through customs visit customer (CVC) assistance sessions. Head of Banjarmasin Customs Office, R Teddy Laksmana, stated that one of the assisted businesses, CV Kebun Bunga Urban, successfully exported deer horn ornamental plants from Banjarmasin to Taiwan. These CVC sessions aim to directly address the challenges faced by MSMEs in penetrating international markets.

Ornamental plants have significant export potential due to high demand in Asian, American, and European markets. Indonesia boasts over 400 species and thousands of varieties of ornamental plants, making it a competitive player in the global market. Despite Kalimantan Selatan's (Kalsel) historical focus on mining and palm oil exports, ornamental plants are emerging as a viable export commodity alongside products like bird's nest, marine products, fisheries, and damar resin. Banjarmasin Customs Office is committed to exploring renewable revenue potentials in the agriculture sector, aiming to diversify Kalsel's export profile beyond traditional mining and palm oil industries.
