On Monday (March 25, 2024) afternoon, T.R Fahsul Falah, the Acting Regent of Sinjai, launched initiatives for purchasing plastic waste and products from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Sinjai Regency. The event, held at the Sinjai Regent's Official Residence, also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PT Million Limbah Makassar's CEO, Alex Chandra, and the Department of Environment and Forestry (DLHK) of Sinjai, coinciding with an iftar (breaking of fast) session. Expressing gratitude, T.R Fahsul Falah emphasized the significance of these initiatives in strengthening the local economy. He highlighted the government's achievements in waste management and the crucial role of UMKM in Sinjai's economy, underscoring the need for continuous support to optimize their role in regional economic development.
Furthermore, agreements were made for the opening of a branch office of Bank BTN in Sinjai Regency and the arrival of an investor for clean water on Pulau Sembilan. T.R Fahsul Falah expressed hope that these initiatives would have a significant impact on the community's economy and Sinjai Regency as a whole. The event was attended by members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), the Chairman of the Sinjai Regional Representatives Council (DPRD), officials from the Sinjai Regency Government, and other dignitaries including the Owner of Sinar Alam Supermarket, Jemmy Sorensen, who expressed intentions to purchase UMKM products from Sinjai. Also present were the Supervisory Board of the Indonesian Waste Bank Association and the Coordinator for the Cooperative and UMKM Sector of the Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (APINDO) of South Sulawesi, Saharuddiin Ridwan.
