Export: Italy Rises to 5th Place

Italian exports have increased by 48% compared to 2015, propelling Italy to the 5th position in the global ranking. This data emerged from the remarks of the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, ahead of the detailed presentation of the report, scheduled for the Made in Italy Day on April 15, Leonardo Da Vinci's birthday. Around 300 initiatives are planned until April 25 to celebrate Made in Italy Day, showcasing Italian products renowned for being "beautiful, good, well-made, and sustainable," as highlighted by Minister Urso. Minister Urso emphasized that Made in Italy is not just a production model but a way of life, characterized by the excellence and competence of Italian workers, encouraging consumers to continue supporting domestic production.

After a year of stagnation, Italy's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) is showing signs of growth, with a slight expansion in both orders and production. The Italy Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) stood at 50.4 in March, up from 48.7 in February. Tariq Kamal Chaudhry, an economist at the Hamburg Commercial Bank collaborating with S&P Global to compile the index, commented that the Italian manufacturing sector can breathe a sigh of relief. After nearly a year of difficulties, the PMI has exited the contraction zone, with Italy joining Spain as the second among the four largest European economies to register expansion. Experts attribute the PMI improvement to increased output and orders, as well as better employment conditions. However, a constraint on the PMI comes from purchases, as companies continue to rely on inventories.
