According to Heri Yusuf, MIND ID's Corporate Secretary, downstreaming the mining industry within the MIND ID Group can enhance value-added and strengthen the domestic industrial structure. He emphasizes that through downstreaming, they aim to consistently provide the best value-added benefits, thereby contributing to the national economy with multiplier effects and reducing dependency on imports. Furthermore, Heri states that MIND ID is proactively developing derivative industries to yield long-term benefits for both the nation and its people. Through its subsidiaries, such as PT Antam Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum, and PT Timah Tbk, MIND ID continues to optimize the management of strategic reserves and resources, aiming to maintain strong market leadership through business expansion and innovation.

These efforts are directed towards improving the economic well-being of society while safeguarding Indonesia's natural resource sovereignty. Heri underscores that downstreaming is a highly relevant strategy amidst globalization and increasing economic competition, positioning MIND ID as a driving force for sustainable economic growth and national advancement. Highlighting successes, Heri mentions MIND ID's majority shareholding in PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, a significant player in nickel matte production crucial for electric vehicle ecosystem development. Additionally, MIND ID, through PT Antam Tbk and PT Inalum, is involved in the Smelter Grade Alumina (SGAR) project in Mempawah, West Kalimantan, facilitating the production of alumina essential for aluminum manufacturing. Moreover, PT Freeport Indonesia, another member of the MIND ID Group, is actively participating in downstreaming initiatives mandated by the government, including the construction of a copper smelter in Gresik, East Java, scheduled to commence operations in June 2024.
