Bengkulu Launches Direct Export Facilities For Its Flagship Regional Commodities

Bengkulu Province has initiated a direct export facility through the Bengkulu Island Port to export its regional flagship commodities, establishing export container facilities. Governor of Bengkulu, Rohidin Mersyah, stated that the presence of export containers, prepared by PT Sinokor, Heung A Line, and PT Winarapan, is expected to enhance Bengkulu's flagship commodity export activities. Until now, Bengkulu's commodity export process has tended to involve double handling, with products being packaged at the Bengkulu Island Port before being distributed to major ports such as Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, before being exported to the destination country.

The presence of export containers is expected to eliminate double handling, making the process more efficient and effective. Governor Rohidin emphasized the importance of synergistic support from various parties, especially at the local government level, to support the existence of this facility. The main goal is to provide convenience for industrial players and SMEs in Bengkulu Province to export their products directly to the destination export countries. As additional information, several districts in Bengkulu have potential flagship commodities such as horticultural farming, coffee plantations, oil palm, and rubber. Until now, the flagship commodities exported directly through the Bengkulu Island Port are coal. General Manager of Pelindo Regional II, Capt. S Joko, targets Bengkulu's flagship commodity exports to reach 200,000 cubic meters per month, with the hope of increasing efficiency and export volume.
