In February 2024, Foreign Trade Surplus Reaches USD 410.48 Million

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Central Kalimantan Province has reported a trade surplus for the region in February 2024 amounting to USD 410.48 million. This was announced by the Head of BPS Central Kalimantan, Eko Marsoro, in an Official Statistical News Release on Monday, April 1, 2024. According to Eko, the value of exports from Central Kalimantan in February 2024 amounted to USD 416.68 million, representing a 6.16% increase compared to January 2024. Conversely, imports for February 2024 totaled USD 6.20 million, indicating a 49.55% decrease from January 2024.


Breaking down the export figures, Eko highlighted that key export commodities for Central Kalimantan in February 2024 included coal, palm oil, zirconium ore, processed wood, and lignite. These exports showed a 17.13% decrease compared to February 2023. He further mentioned that major export destinations for Central Kalimantan in February 2024 were Japan, China, and South Korea. On the import side, Eko noted that imports for February 2024 amounted to USD 6.20 million, marking a 49.55% decrease from January 2024, but a significant 208.46% increase compared to February 2023. Main import commodities during February 2024 included extraction machinery, bitumen asphalt, and chemical catalysts, sourced primarily from Malaysia, Singapore, and Germany.
