Sri Mulyani Optimistic Indonesian Economy Will Grow by 5.2% in 2024

The Indonesian government forecasts that the country's economy will grow by over 5% this year, with the belief that the disbursement of holiday allowance (THR) and the 13th-month salary for civil servants (ASN) will help boost economic growth. Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati expresses optimism that providing a 100% performance allowance component for THR and the 13th-month salary of ASN will have a positive impact on Indonesia's economic growth in 2024. This 100% performance allowance composition is part of the government's efforts to achieve a 5.2% year-on-year (YoY) economic growth target for Indonesia in 2024. Sri Mulyani also emphasizes the importance of the timing of the THR and 13th-month salary disbursements in maintaining growth and stability in the national economy, especially during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, which are expected to drive consumer spending. Budget allocations for THR and the 13th-month salary are already included in the 2024 State Budget (APBN) and Regional Budgets (APBD). The disbursement process for THR is scheduled to begin on the 10th day before Eid al-Fitr, with technical implementation arrangements to be regulated by the Minister of Finance and local regulations.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Home Affairs instructs all local governments to finalize the drafting of Regional Head Regulations (Perkada) regarding the disbursement of THR and the 13th-month salary within the week, ensuring that payments can commence on the 10th day before Eid al-Fitr. If THR payments cannot be made before Eid al-Fitr, they may be disbursed after the holiday. As for the 13th-month salary, which serves as educational assistance, it will be implemented starting June 2024, with the same recipients and components as the 2024 THR. The technical implementation of THR and the 13th-month salary will be regulated by Minister of Finance Regulations for those funded by the State Budget and by Regional Regulations for those funded by Regional Budgets.
