In efforts to bolster emergency response networks within ASEAN, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health met with the ASEAN Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Network. Secretary-General Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha expressed that the meeting provides another opportunity to enhance regional collaboration, including with international partners, in emergency response and preparedness across ASEAN. "This meeting marks a significant milestone in our joint efforts to strengthen regional cooperation in emergency response and preparedness within ASEAN," stated Secretary-General Kunta at the Ministry of Health building in Jakarta on Monday (4/3).
Secretary-General Kunta acknowledged the importance of this visit to enhance collaboration and understanding regarding the ASEAN Emergency Operations Centre Network led by Malaysia. Collaboration and solidarity among ASEAN countries are crucial when facing challenges posed by global health threats such as the COVID-19 pandemic and other emerging infectious diseases. "The ASEAN Emergency Operations Centre Network fulfills our commitment to enhancing regional resilience and response capacity during crises," emphasized Secretary-General Kunta. The ASEAN Emergency Operations Centre Network plays a vital role in advancing collective efforts to strengthen emergency response capacities in ASEAN. Secretary-General Kunta expressed appreciation to partners such as the UK Health Security Agency and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States for their continuous collaboration and support. These partnerships are essential in enhancing capabilities and resilience in addressing public health emergencies. "Together with ASEAN partners, we have embarked on a journey towards stronger development and interconnected emergency response networks in the ASEAN region. Support and collaboration are invaluable as we work together to safeguard health and well-being in the region," he added.
