In 2023, Banten Province demonstrated a robust investment performance, recording a total investment realization of IDR 103.85 trillion. This comprised both Domestic Direct Investment (PMDN) amounting to IDR 37.97 trillion (36.5%) and Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) totaling IDR 65.88 trillion (63.3%), as reported by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM RI. The Acting Governor of Banten, Al Muktabar, highlighted the promising outlook for investment in the province, attributing the significant increase in investment realization to pro-investment policies and various incentives offered by the government. The investment realization in 2023 marked a 29.46% annual increase compared to the previous year, exceeding both regional and national targets by 173% and approximately 125.27%, respectively. The investment sector highlights revealed that the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry sector led with IDR 31.92 trillion, followed by Housing, Industrial Zones, and Offices with IDR 18.49 trillion. Other significant sectors included Electricity, Gas, and Water with IDR 9.12 trillion, and Transportation, Warehousing, and Telecommunications with IDR 7.23 trillion. The investment realization in other service sectors amounted to IDR 6.57 trillion.
The distribution of investments across regencies/cities showed that Cilegon City recorded the highest investment realization of IDR 38.63 trillion, followed by Tangerang Regency with IDR 29.69 trillion. The top five countries contributing to Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) were Malaysia with USD 1.776 billion, South Korea with USD 709 million, Singapore with USD 671 million, Japan with USD 416 million, and Hong Kong and China (PRC) with USD 273 million. The notable investment performance of Banten Province positioned it as the fifth province with the highest investment realization in 2023, surpassing the Regional Development Plan (RPD) 2023-2026 targets. Moving forward, the provincial government remains committed to enhancing the investment climate by focusing on infrastructure development, transportation, licensing services, and industrial zone availability.
