In February 2024, Indonesian local products participated in the Texworld Paris textile exhibition through collaboration between the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Embassy in Paris. This participation is estimated to generate potential transactions of USD 20 million (approximately IDR 312 billion) for the upcoming year. Ruth Joanna Samaria, the Trade Attaché in Paris, highlighted Indonesia as the sole ASEAN participant in Texworld Paris 2024, providing a valuable opportunity to showcase Indonesian products to international buyers. She emphasized Indonesia's significant presence as a major global garment producer at the exhibition. Five Indonesian companies, including Hakatex, Gistex Indonesia, Duta Permata, Daliatex, and Dan Liris, showcased their products at Texworld Paris. The event attracted 1,260 participants from 28 countries, with the Indonesian Pavilion drawing over 500 international textile buyers from various countries.
In addition to garment products, Indonesian participants highlighted environmentally friendly products, certified by organizations such as the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), ISO 9002, and ISO 14001, catering to the growing demand for sustainable textiles. The Texworld Paris organizers noted a strong interest among textile buyers in environmentally friendly fabrics, fibers, or yarns, with 60–90% of buyers expressing interest in such products. Following Indonesia's success at Texworld 2024, the Indonesian Embassy in Paris aims to encourage other relevant ministries to bring more Indonesian textile companies to Texworld 2025, further enhancing Indonesia's presence in the international textile market. Texworld Paris is a biannual specialized trade exhibition for the textile industry, marking the return of European buyers following the Covid-19 pandemic. The event attracts leading global fashion brands and active participation from countries such as Turkey, China, South Korea, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. France's textile imports from Indonesia reached USD 194 million from January to November 2023, according to data from Trade Map. Besides Indonesia, other countries exporting textiles to France include Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.
