The Hosting of INACRAFT 2024 Places Indonesia Among the Top 10 Largest Exporters of Handicrafts in the World

INACRAFT 2024, held from February 28th to March 3rd, 2024, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), was inaugurated by Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki. The event aims to position Indonesia as a leading exporter of handicraft products in ASEAN and globally. Indonesia's presence among the top 10 handicraft exporters globally was highlighted. Teten praised Asephi for consistently promoting INACRAFT within ASEAN. Indonesia's 1.25% share in the global handicraft market is expected to grow due to its abundant natural resources and skilled artisans, offering a significant opportunity for craft artisans to dominate the domestic market. The event showcased innovative fabricated eri silk yarn, manufactured exclusively in Indonesia, combining 70% tencel fiber and 30% eri silk fiber. INACRAFT 2024 embraced digitalization through the SMART concept, incorporating cashless payments, social media orientation, and digital insight programs.

Muchsin Ridjan, Chairman of Asephi, highlighted INACRAFT 2024's participation of 1,500 SMEs, including 656 Asephi members and others supported by Ministries/Institutions (K/L) and 10 international participants. Despite political tensions, the event targets 100,000 visitors with retail transactions of approximately IDR 100 billion. INACRAFT serves as an annual platform for promoting local handicrafts globally, creating export opportunities for artisans and ensuring business transactions for Asephi members and Indonesia's handicraft industry. Minister Teten Masduki, accompanied by Asephi members and K/L representatives, symbolically inaugurated the event, with President Joko Widodo also attending to review handicraft booths by SME participants.
