Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono highlighted the extensive legislative history of KKP, with 250 regulations issued since its inception in 1999, covering both national and international agreements. During the Legal Forum in Surabaya, he emphasized the critical need for a comprehensive evaluation of these legal frameworks, particularly in alignment with five key blue economy policies. These policies encompass the expansion of marine conservation areas, quota-based and measurable fishing practices, sustainable aquaculture development, monitoring of coastal and island areas, and tackling marine plastic pollution. The involvement of legal experts in this review process ensures that forthcoming regulations uphold these pivotal blue economy principles.
