The Department of Cooperatives, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (KUKM Perindag) in Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regency actively promotes the adoption of sustainable trade practices among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). Nurlianti, the Head of the Cooperative and UMKM Division at KUKM Perindag, explains that several initiatives have been undertaken to encourage environmentally friendly trade practices, particularly focusing on UMKM. Coordination with relevant parties, especially the Industrial Division, is emphasized to ensure that UMKM in PPU adopts sustainable trading practices. A key aspect highlighted is the use of environmentally friendly packaging, aiming to contribute positively to environmental conservation. Nurlianti stresses ongoing efforts in raising awareness and reminding UMKM to segregate business waste both pre and post-production.
In addition to awareness campaigns, KUKM Perindag collaborates with the Environmental Agency (DLH) to strengthen proactive measures supporting sustainable trade practices among UMKM. Nurlianti explains the collaboration involves facilitating UMKM in opening waste bank accounts, exemplifying a participatory role in fostering an environmentally friendly business ecosystem. Through these initiatives, Dinas KUKM Perindag aims to make a positive contribution in reshaping the mindset and behavior of UMKM stakeholders towards responsible environmental trade practices.
