The Secretariat General of the National Special Economic Zone Council (Sekjen Denas KEK) has extended a Tax Holiday incentive to businesses investing in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK), entailing a reduction in Corporate Income Tax (PPh Badan). Presently, nine businesses, including PT Kawasan Industri Kendal and PT Masterkidz Indonesia, have availed the tax holiday, while nine others are in the application process. Susiwijono Moegiarso, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, acting as the Acting Secretary-General of Denas KEK, envisions KEK transforming into a region that not only amplifies production and investment but also directly contributes to the national economy, specifically benefiting Kendal Regency and Central Java Province.
Aligned with the government's objectives, the tax incentives underscore KEK's role in supporting businesses and fostering economic growth in the region. The Secretary aims to cultivate a transparent, integrated, and sustainable business environment in KEK Kendal through ongoing awareness initiatives. Discussions within Denas KEK have addressed strategic challenges related to electricity and clean water in KEK Kendal, seeking to identify and effectively resolve issues faced by businesses concerning regulations and infrastructure. The open discussions aim to formulate concrete steps to address challenges, ensuring KEK remains a preferred area for government-backed investments, particularly in the manufacturing sector. The Kendal KEK Development and Management Agency (BUPP KEK Kendal) is set to establish a formal communication platform to address business obstacles, demonstrating a commitment to facilitating strategic collaborations between stakeholders at both central and regional levels. Through intensive coordination, Sekjen Denas KEK pledges to be a reliable partner for businesses, focusing on creating an environment conducive to economic and investment growth through policy improvements such as regulatory simplification. The vision is for KEK Kendal to not only meet its targets but also significantly enhance investment inflows into Indonesia, making substantial contributions to the national economy.
