The collaboration between the Monthly Film Festival (Fesbul) and the Market Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival 2024 in France has created opportunities for investment and cooperation, according to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. This collaboration expands the market reach for Indonesian short films and opens doors for sustainable business partnerships, strengthening Indonesia's creative economy and contributing to national economic growth. Building on its success, Fesbul is now ready to face challenges from other leading international film festivals abroad. Winners of the 2023 Fesbul attended the Film Market at the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival 2024 in France, a program supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy as an appreciation gesture towards the winners.
The film "Basri & Salma in A Never Ending Comedy" successfully entered the official competition at Clermont. The festival attracted around 116,000 visitors from various parts of the world, including filmmakers, film distributors, representatives from film festivals, and film enthusiasts. Fesbul's participation in Clermont serves not only as a showcase for the best short films but also as a platform for Indonesian filmmakers to meet distributors, potential co-production partners, and representatives from leading international film festivals. The collaboration between Fesbul and Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival extends beyond participation in the film market to official collaborator status. This collaboration provides significant opportunities for filmmakers, as films selected in the Fesbul curation, from locus 1 to 10, are automatically considered for the official selection of the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival.
