At the outset of 2024, Fisheries Commodities Exported through the Badau Integrated Border Checkpoint (PLBN Badau) Reached 6.9 Tons

Septyardhi Haryono, an official from the Badau Quarantine Office, reports a growing trend in the export of fisheries commodities from Kapuas Hulu District through the Badau Integrated Border Checkpoint (PLBN Badau). This growth is attributed to the consistently high quality of fisheries products from Kapuas Hulu, attracting consumers from neighboring Malaysia. In January 2024, the export volume of fish commodities reached 6.9 tons, generating a revenue of IDR 511,910,000 for the country. This underscores the competitiveness of Kapuas Hulu's fisheries commodities in the global market, particularly in Malaysia. The exported fisheries commodities include various species such as jelawat, kelabau, ringau, seladang, semah, tapah, and tenggalan, meeting all export requirements in terms of quality and destination country standards.

Throughout 2023, the total export of fisheries commodities through PLBN Badau amounted to 92,576 tons, indicating a significant growth in export activities from Kapuas Hulu via this checkpoint. Muamar Darda, Acting Head of the Badau Quarantine Office, emphasizes the promising potential of freshwater fisheries commodities from Kapuas Hulu to penetrate the global market, thus stimulating the local economy. This potential is facilitated by the presence of PLBN at the Indonesia-Malaysia border in Kapuas Hulu District, allowing collaboration among local communities, quarantine authorities, and other stakeholders to drive the economy through legally compliant export-import activities.
