The Investment and Integrated One-Stop Service Agency of Karawang Regency, West Java, reported that the investment realization in the Karawang region from January to December 2023 reached IDR 45.8 trillion. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) predominantly dominated the investments during 2023. According to Oktaf Hariadji, the Sub-Coordinator of Investment Data at the Investment and Integrated One-Stop Service Agency of Karawang, the total investment of IDR 45.8 trillion comprises IDR 40.2 trillion from foreign direct investment (PMA) and IDR 5.6 trillion from domestic direct investment (PMDN). Investments from foreign direct sources mainly originated from Japan, Singapore, and China. This accomplishment surpassed the set target as the actual realization amounted to IDR 45.8 trillion, while the initial target was IDR 40.6 trillion.
The absorption of the workforce reached 30,758 individuals, providing a considerable employment boost to the local community. This impressive performance has positioned Karawang as the second-highest in terms of investment realization in West Java, trailing only behind Kabupaten Bekasi, which secured the top spot with IDR 61.2 trillion in investment. Oktaf emphasized the commitment to further enhance investment realization in the upcoming year. While the central government has yet to determine this year's investment target, the local authorities are dedicated to intensifying efforts to maintain high levels of investment realization. Karawang's success in attracting substantial investments underscores its growing appeal to both domestic and foreign investors. The consistent efforts to streamline processes and facilitate investment activities contribute to the region's economic growth, creating a positive outlook for the coming years.
