In a recent Dinner Meeting Outlook on Bali's Tourism at The Payogan Villa Resort and Spa, Ubud, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, expressed optimism about Bali's potential to attract international tourists. He believes that Bali can contribute significantly by drawing in seven million foreign tourists to Indonesia in 2024. During the event on January 30, 2024, Minister Sandiaga stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) aims for a total of 14.3 million foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia. Based on Kemenparekraf's study, Bali, as a favored tourist destination, is expected to contribute 50% to the national target, translating to approximately seven million tourists. To accelerate the achievement of this goal, Sandiaga plans to enhance accessibility to Bali. This includes increasing international flights to Bali and introducing unique and attractive tour packages without causing overtourism. The focus is on maintaining quality and sustainable tourism on the island.
"There is a need for additional flights and the introduction of travel packages that distribute higher-quality tourists who stay longer. This way, the economic impact will be felt more by the local community without overburdening and causing overtourism," explained Sandiaga. Sandiaga emphasized that these efforts are expected to expedite the realization of the target number of foreign tourist arrivals in 2024, leading to the creation of 4.4 million jobs in the tourism and creative economy sector by the same year. "The hope is that the revival of tourism in Bali will be stronger in 2024, reaching the target of creating 4.4 million new job opportunities," Sandiaga stated, highlighting the importance of sustainable growth and positive economic impact on the local community.
