Indonesia is advancing towards the realization of a smart forest city by developing a centralized system to operate all infrastructure within the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) from a single command center, ensuring integrated and optimal services. To achieve this, Indonesia has partnered with Finland to assist in developing the system. Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono hosted a visit from Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman and representatives from 19 Finnish companies at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing office on Monday (29/1/2024). The meeting aimed to explore potential cooperation with Finnish companies in the development of IKN, particularly concerning the utilization of technology and renewable energy to realize IKN's vision as a smart forest city.
Currently, there are curators and several experts supporting the implementation of this initiative. Their task is to evaluate and oversee each stage of infrastructure development in IKN. Additionally, the government targets Finland to provide at least one expert to support the supervision. Committed to achieving city digitization together, Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman stated that a total of 50 leading Finnish companies see significant potential in IKN's development and are interested in collaborating with Indonesia in the development of a smart city in IKN. The selection of Finland as a partner country for collaboration has its reasons, as Finland is one of the most digitally advanced countries in terms of city digitization. Therefore, this collaboration is expected to drive Indonesia towards implementing a smart city in IKN. "As one of the most digitalized countries, we believe Finland has the expertise needed by Indonesia in developing this smart city," said Wille Rydman. Furthermore, Wille Rydman ensured that everyone involved in Team Finland is fully committed and ready to collaborate as one team with Indonesia in realizing the development of the smart city in IKN.
