Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) Bangka Belitung is optimistic about the public's investment interest in capital market instruments. Fahmi Al Kahfi, the Head of the Representative Office of the Indonesia Stock Exchange in Bangka Belitung, predicts an improved prospect for investment in the capital market. According to Fahmi, themes in recent presidential debates have focused on economic growth, indicating a positive trajectory for our developmental economy. With optimistic targets set by vice-presidential candidates, this could serve as a positive catalyst for the public and investors, fostering increased interest in capital market investments. Throughout 2023, investment instruments such as Government Securities (SBN) recorded a growth of 8.7%, surpassing the increase in the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) by 6.2%. Looking ahead to 2024, Fahmi notes a growing interest in instruments like mutual funds and bonds, perceived as conservative investment strategies as the year begins.
Fahmi highlights that the total number of registered investors in the Bangka Belitung Province has reached 61,700, marking an increase of around 14,700 investors in 2023. The significant surge in investor numbers reflects the rapidly growing interest of the community in activities related to the capital market. In an effort to enhance financial literacy and promote inclusive participation in the capital market, BEI Bangka Belitung has undertaken various activities, including conducting capital market schools (Sekolah Pasar Modal), appointing capital market ambassadors (Duta Pasar Modal) for students, and promoting literacy among civil servants and village officials. These initiatives aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for informed and effective participation in the capital market, contributing to its overall growth and development.
