Jawa Tengah Exports 20 Tons of Frozen Shrimp to Australia, Marking a Continuous Growth in Seafood Exports

Jawa Tengah province has achieved a significant milestone by exporting 20 tons of frozen shrimp to Australia, marking the first-ever frozen shrimp export to the country. The export initiative was undertaken by PT Sumber Samudera Indonesia, and the ceremonial release of the shipment was carried out by the Acting Governor of Jawa Tengah, Nana Sudjana, on January 25, 2024. Acting Governor Nana Sudjana expressed optimism about this development, highlighting it as a positive step for the region's import-export dynamics. He emphasized the positive performance of the province in the export of fisheries and marine products, indicating a prosperous outlook for the future. Throughout 2023, Jawa Tengah demonstrated robust performance in the export of marine and fisheries products, with a volume reaching approximately 78,800 tons and a total value of IDR 4.32 trillion. This marked a significant increase of around 23.57% compared to the figures from 2022.

Acting Governor Nana Sudjana conveyed hopes for a continuous increase in exports from Jawa Tengah in 2024, building on the success achieved in the previous year. The province's seafood exports primarily targeted ten key countries, including China, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, the USA, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Thailand. The main seafood commodities exported from Jawa Tengah included crab meat, squid, shrimp, ribbon fish, surimi, mackerel, clams, snapper, and pomfret. Nana Sudjana expressed gratitude to PT Sumber Samudera Indonesia and other companies contributing to the commendable performance in seafood exports. In addition to boosting the economy through marine product exports, Nana Sudjana encouraged companies like PT Sumber Samudera Indonesia to play a broader role in benefiting the local communities, such as providing employment opportunities to residents in the vicinity. This move aligns with the province's aspiration for economic growth to be inclusive and have positive ripple effects on the community surrounding such enterprises.
