The Indonesian government, represented by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Badung Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf), is set to participate in the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2024 in Vientiane, Laos from January 23 to 27, 2024. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, highlights Indonesia's participation in ATF 2024 as an effort to strengthen collaboration with ASEAN member countries and partner nations. The objective is to stimulate growth and create new, high-quality job opportunities in the tourism sector. Sandiaga emphasizes his direct involvement in this significant annual tourism event in Southeast Asia, underlining Indonesia's commitment to taking a leading role in the development of sustainable tourism in the ASEAN region. This commitment particularly focuses on the development of tourist villages, aligning with principles of inclusivity and sustainability.
The ATF 2024 revolves around the theme 'Quality and Responsible Tourism – Sustaining ASEAN Future.' Laos, as the host country, aims to showcase its commitment to contributing more to the community and ensuring the sustainability of tourism in the ASEAN region. The forum will feature various meetings, including those between tourism ministers from all ASEAN member countries and meetings with partner countries such as ASEAN Plus Three, India, Russia, and ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (NTOs). Additionally, the event will witness the launch of Visit Laos 2024 and Travex (Travel Exchange) 2024. Travex serves as a business-to-business (B2B) platform for tourism industry players within ASEAN countries. Indonesia's proactive involvement in ATF 2024 demonstrates its dedication to fostering sustainable tourism practices and promoting collaboration for the mutual benefit of the ASEAN region. The country's focus on inclusivity and sustainability aligns with the broader theme of responsible tourism outlined for the forum.
