Kota Batu, renowned for its tourism, agriculture, and SME sectors, continues to allure visitors and investors alike. The escalating trend in annual investments reflects substantial growth, starting from IDR 393.7 billion in 2018, reaching IDR 1.8 trillion in 2019, IDR 928.4 billion in 2020, IDR 3.3 trillion in 2021, and IDR 4.9 trillion in 2022. Notably, the year 2023 witnessed a realized investment of IDR 1.5 trillion, comprising IDR 1.044 trillion from Domestic Direct Investment (PMDN) and IDR 109.678 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Aries Agung Paewai, the Acting Mayor of Kota Batu, expressed, "In 2023, Kota Batu achieved an investment figure of IDR 1.5 trillion, obtained from IDR 1.044 trillion in PMDN and IDR 109.678 billion in foreign capital. This indicates Kota Batu's high attractiveness for investors to inject their capital into the city." The consistent surge in investments each year aligns with the rapid developments in tourism, hospitality, agriculture, and SMEs. However, he cautioned that incoming investments must adhere to environmental sustainability principles.
"Investments must be environmentally friendly. We must ensure that investments do not harm the environment and have no adverse effects on social and natural disasters. Therefore, investors must ensure that all permits are settled beforehand and prioritize the local community as employees. This approach minimizes risks and benefits both the residents and the environment," he elaborated. Dyah Lies Tina, the Head of DPMPTSP Kota Batu, highlighted that the actual investment realization surpasses the annual targets. For 2023, with a target of IDR 700 billion, the city achieved a notable IDR 1.5 trillion in investments. "For 2024, we are targeting investments into Kota Batu to reach IDR 840 billion. We are optimistic that this investment goal can be achieved given the high number of tourist visits to Kota Batu every year," she affirmed. According to data from the Tourism Office of Kota Batu, the city recorded 9.5 million tourist visits in 2023. This figure is poised to exceed the target, aiming for over 10 million tourist visits. The strategic focus on sustainable investments and leveraging the city's attractions positions Kota Batu as a promising destination for both tourism and business ventures.
