PT Semen Padang is exploring export collaborations with Singapore this year. As the oldest cement producer in Southeast Asia, the company has already successfully exported its products to four countries: Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, and Australia. Director of PT Semen Padang, Indrieffouny Indra, commonly known as Arief, expressed optimism about potential exports to Singapore, adding, "We are currently exploring export cooperation with Singapore. Hopefully, it will materialize." Arief noted the intense competition within Indonesia's cement industry due to the presence of numerous new producers. Consequently, Semen Padang is strategically targeting foreign markets. "For the domestic market, we cover Sumatra and parts of Java. Additionally, we aim to export overseas," explained Arief.
According to Arief, the company has been engaged in international exports since 2008. The export of cement to Australia, in particular, commenced in 2016. Arief clarified that the company continually enhances its foreign exports, focusing on both cement and clinker (the raw material for cement). Arief highlighted impressive production figures, with clinker achieving a 110% annual growth rate, cement production reaching 95% year on year (YoY), and clinker exports showing a remarkable 270% YoY increase. "We anticipate growth, especially in the export sector, in 2024," Arief emphasized.
