Official Launch of Cocoa Export to China by Acting Governor of Southeast Sulawesi

The Acting Governor of Southeast Sulawesi, Komjen Pol (Ret.) Andap Budhi Revianto, officially inaugurated the first export of 17 tons of processed fermented cocoa to China. The cocoa, processed by a local business group in North Kolaka District, marks the commencement of exports in 2024. Speaking at the event in North Kolaka, Andap emphasized the significance of this cocoa export and expressed hope for its continuous growth. He underscored the importance of enhancing cocoa productivity and quality in North Konawe to further boost future exports. The 17 tons of fermented cocoa exported were produced by local cocoa entrepreneurs in collaboration with the North Kolaka District Government through the Department of Plantation and Animal Husbandry. Since July 2022, a total of 220 tons of fermented cocoa have been exported to various countries, including Latin America, Australia, and China.

Andap commended local cocoa entrepreneurs and the North Kolaka District Government for their efforts in fostering economic growth through cocoa exports. He highlighted the positive impact of exporting fermented cocoa globally and its potential to stimulate economic growth in North Kolaka. Expressing his hopes for increased cocoa productivity and quality, Andap encouraged local entrepreneurs to strive for excellence. By doing so, they can contribute to the growth of cocoa exports in North Kolaka. Ismail Mustafa, the Head of the Department of Plantation and Animal Husbandry in North Kolaka, added that this cocoa export release marked the 19th occasion since the first export in July 2022. The monthly average shipment is around 17 tons, totaling 220 tons to date. The exported fermented cocoa is processed by a local entrepreneur in North Kolaka. In conclusion, the official launch of cocoa exports to China reflects the collaborative efforts of local entrepreneurs and the government in Southeast Sulawesi. It signifies a positive trajectory for the region's cocoa industry and holds the potential to contribute significantly to economic development.
