The Indonesian government, specifically the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, has reported the completion of 190 National Strategic Projects (PSN) by the end of 2023. Minister of Economic Affairs Coordinating, Airlangga Hartarto, disclosed that over the past decade of PSN development, the government successfully finalized 190 projects with a total investment value reaching IDR 1,515.4 trillion. Among these, projects worth IDR 1,500 trillion, including 30 projects and 9 partially operating programs, were completed by 2023, with one notable project being a coastal seawall. Speaking at the National Seminar on the Strategy for Protecting the Regions of Java through the Construction of Coastal and Sea Walls (Giant Sea Wall) at the Grand Ballroom Kempinski on Wednesday (10/1/2024), Airlangga detailed that throughout 2023, 37 projects were completed and scattered across Indonesia.
As of December 2023, there were 50 projects under construction, 4 projects in the transaction stage, and 37 projects with 4 programs in the preparation process. The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs previously emphasized the significant impact of PSNs in creating connectivity, facilitating the flow of the economy from the center to regions, and generating widespread positive effects across Indonesia. This is underscored by a study conducted by LPEM UI and Prospera on 137 PSNs, revealing that these projects contributed to the economy with an output of IDR 1,670 trillion and the creation of 4.5 million job opportunities. President Joko Widodo has assured that 42 PSNs are yet to be completed by 2024, leaving a legacy for the incoming president to finalize projects estimated at IDR 1,427.36 trillion. The primary challenges for the completion of these delayed projects include issues related to land acquisition and financing.
