Deputy Regent of Badung, I Ketut Suiasa, alongside Indonesia's Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmayanti, attended the Bali Great Sale event at Discovery Mall Bali, Kuta, held on January 6, 2024. Notable attendees included officials from Bali's Provincial Government, such as I Made Widiana, Head of Cooperatives, SMEs, and Trade of Badung, and Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati, Chairman of Bali Provincial Tourism Promotion Board, among others. Minister Darmayanti emphasized the significance of focusing on downstream marketing and applauded the collaborative effort behind the successful Bali Great Sale. She highlighted its role in stimulating the local economy and attracting tourists to Bali, urging it to inspire creativity for even better outcomes.
With data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs indicating 65 million SMEs in Indonesia, with 64 million being micro-enterprises, of which 60% are owned and managed by women, the government's dedicated attention to SMEs, particularly through programs like Women's Empowerment in Entrepreneurship, is expected to persist. She stressed the need for inter-ministerial cooperation, including with local governments, to provide optimal opportunities for SMEs. Gita Sunarwulan, Chairman of APPBI Bali, reported that the Bali Great Sale offered various attractive door prizes such as discounts, entertainment, art displays, SME exhibitions, and gift vouchers. Running from December 15, 2023, to January 14, 2024, simultaneously in 11 malls under the APPBI Bali, the event aimed to become a key highlight in Bali's tourism calendar. Organized by APPBI Bali, the Bali Great Sale involved 11 malls, collectively promoting Indonesia's retail and tourism industries. It aimed to support 35 UMKM participants, contributing to Bali's economic development. The event served as a platform for cultural exchange, trade, and UMKM exhibitions, aiming to allure both tourists and mall visitors.
