The processed squid products from Kampung Cumi, Desa Langgula, have achieved success by penetrating the international market through participation in the Go Abroad Fair in Utrecht, Netherlands, organized from November 24 to 25, 2023, associated with the UNG event. Prof. Dr. Eduart Wolok, S.T., M.T., the Rector of Gorontalo State University (UNG), expressed satisfaction with the immense enthusiasm received by the Kampung Cumi products at this exhibition. He highlighted that the enthusiastic reception signifies a significant opportunity for the development of UNG-supported village products in Teluk Tomini, potentially evolving into Indonesia's export commodities from the region.
Teluk Tomini, encompassing 528 coastal villages, holds distinctive advantages within each village. Eduart emphasized the region's potential for advancement, aiming to transform Teluk Tomini into a certainty, particularly noting that Desa Langgula, spanning 450 hectares of land, mountains, and coastal waters, exhibits potential in fisheries, maritime activities, and agriculture. The village specializes in squid fishing, averaging 450 kilograms per month or 15 kilograms daily per fisherman, showcasing the strength of its fisheries. Apart from participation in the exhibition, the UNG delegation engaged in a series of collaboration dialogues at various educational and research institutions in the Netherlands, centered on the primary issue of developing the Teluk Tomini region. Eduart concluded by highlighting the collaborative efforts and dialogues initiated by UNG, underscoring the university's commitment to address the development of the Teluk Tomini region as a primary agenda during their visit to the Netherlands.
