The inaugural export of 2.5 tons of mangosteen from North Sumatra to China via Kuala Namu International Airport marked a significant milestone. Governor of North Sumatra, officials from the Deliserdang Agriculture Quarantine Office, Customs at Kuala Namu, and stakeholders witnessed the event on Tuesday (19/12/2023) in Medan. Suwandi, Head of Medan's Class II Agriculture Quarantine Office, described this export as a three-year process, signifying a historical moment in exporting to China through PT EBK. He expressed hope for sustained exports to China and beyond. Moh Zamroni, Head of Kuala Namu Customs, emphasized the pivotal role of customs in supporting exports, aiming to lower logistics costs for competitive pricing. He highlighted the need for continuity beyond this inaugural export, ensuring sustained success.
CEO of PT EBK, Iwan Sanjaya, acknowledged governmental support and various Sumatra-based institutions for this accomplishment. He expressed gratitude and eagerness for continued guidance to become proficient exporters for Indonesia's benefit. Ir. Syarifah Aulia, Economic Advisor of Deliserdang Regency, lauded the China export as motivation for horticultural cultivation, particularly mangosteen, encouraging agricultural enhancement. This export serves as an opportunity for the Agriculture Department to elevate horticultural production, considering Deliserdang's vital agricultural role. Key figures including Dr. Lenny Hartati Harahap from Belawan Agriculture Quarantine Office, Sudiwan Situmorang from Tanjung Balai BKP, PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi representatives, Sunissan from Kuala Namu Customs, and other esteemed guests graced the occasion.
