Throughout this year, Indonesia's car export sales have remained fairly robust, despite the unpredictable conditions in the four-wheeler market due to various factors like the US economy and inflation. Indonesian car exports reached 486 thousand units until last month, with Toyota dominating this figure. Recent months have witnessed market instability due to Indonesia's economic state and inflation in the United States, affecting car sales. However, coastal car exports remain steady, with 42,129 units shipped in November 2023. The total car exports from Indonesia for January to November 2023 reached 468,595 units. In the previous month, Toyota led with 13,292 units exported, closely followed by Daihatsu with 13,008 units. While Hyundai almost reached the 6,000 units, only Toyota and Daihatsu exported over 10,000 units.
Other brands trailed behind: Mitsubishi at 5,068 units, Suzuki at 2,365 units, Honda at 1,363 units, SGMW (Wuling, etc.) at 211 units, and Handal Indonesia Motors (Chery, etc.) at 190 units. Though trailing Toyota and Daihatsu, these results are respectable. Hyundai nearly hit the 6,000-unit mark, securing a notable position among non-Japanese brands. This achievement is commendable given the challenging domestic market dynamics. The exported models mainly consist of SUVs and commercial vehicles. Daihatsu produces various Toyota models, including rebadged versions for Mazda. Despite differences in numbers, Toyota and Daihatsu maintain their export dominance, showcasing their strong footing in both domestic and international markets.
