In November 2023, Riau Province's exports reached USD 1.70 billion, growing by 6.58% from the previous month. Notably, non-oil and gas exports surged by 8.73%, totaling USD 1.54 billion, contributing 7.71% to the national economy. However, cumulatively from January to November 2023, Riau's exports declined by 15.94% to USD 17.39 billion, with non-oil and gas exports declining by 17.47% to USD 15.89 billion, as reported by Asep Riyadi, Head of BPS Riau. Conversely, Riau experienced a significant increase in imports in November 2023, reaching USD 217.86 million, marking a 40.69% rise from the previous month.
Non-oil and gas imports grew by 24.50% to USD 176.22 million. Despite contributing only 1.11% to the national economy, the positive import growth trend warrants attention. However, cumulatively from January to November 2023, Riau's imports dropped by 10.92% to USD 2.34 billion, with non-oil and gas imports decreasing by 12.65% to USD 2.10 billion. Riau exhibited a positive trade balance in November 2023, recording a surplus of USD 1.48 billion. Cumulatively from January to November 2023, the trade surplus reached USD 15.42 billion. Asep Riyadi expressed optimism about Riau's role in maintaining national economic stability amidst these trade dynamics.
