The Yogyakarta regional government is dedicated to reviving the economy post-Covid-19, specifically by supporting Cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). SiBakul Jogja, a flagship initiative, has significantly impacted local economic growth. SiBakul Jogja extends product reach for cooperatives and MSMEs in Yogyakarta through product photography, design facilities, and free shipping. Up to November 2023, it facilitated 237,000+ transactions worth IDR 6.48 billion in shipping costs, catalyzing local economic transactions to over IDR 46 billion. The Department of Cooperatives and MSMEs focuses on six key areas: Human Resources, Finance, Institutional aspects, Digital Marketing, Marketing, and Production. They provide technical training, certifications, and business permit facilitation.
The regional government emphasizes the crucial role of cooperatives and MSMEs in Indonesia's economic growth. SiBakul Jogja has notably expanded their product reach, enhancing sales for MSME players. Regular exhibitions aid in marketing for these entities. Yogyakarta International Airport's operation has furthered access to cooperative and MSME products through the Kotagede Market Gallery in the airport's waiting area. Additionally, product galleries by the Department, via the SiBakul Window, are in various Yogyakarta locations. The Department facilitates certifications like halal, circulation permits, and P-IRT certifications. However, limited collateral and documentation hinder MSMEs' access to bank credits. Of the 341,000 MSMEs in Yogyakarta, only around 36% have banking access due to technicalities. Efforts focus on enhancing MSME capabilities, coordinating with banks for easier capital access, and urging banks to support MSMEs (contributing around 57% to the Regional Gross Domestic Product).
