PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., or BRI's UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR 2023 program has left a highly positive impact, particularly for participating Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). Arnold Wirakusuma, the owner of Arva Indonesia, a premium tempe chips producer from Yogyakarta, shared the remarkable experience of securing a business contract from Singapore during the event. Arnold expressed the fantastic opportunities offered by BRILIANPRENEUR, highlighting the substantial potential for UMKM, such as Arva Indonesia, to expand into international markets through virtual business matching. Multiple presentations were conducted, connecting UMKM with potential buyers specializing in trading and importing Indonesian goods. Arva Indonesia, with its premium tempe chips, capitalized on the facilitated business matching and secured a significant deal with Tanivest from Singapore. The agreement involves opening 30 stores in Singapore, amounting to a total deal value of SGD 2 million.
The products by Arva Indonesia, crafted from fermented soy tempe, contribute to the global recognition of Indonesian cuisine. Tempe, requiring less land and water in its production compared to animal protein, aligns with environmental sustainability goals. Arva Indonesia, which has been in existence since 2013, emphasizes the preservation of tempe and aims to introduce it worldwide. Apart from fostering international business opportunities, BRILIANPRENEUR serves as a platform for UMKM to elevate their capabilities and scale of operation. The event aims to bring UMKM to the global market and inspire others to enhance their business capabilities. BRILIANPRENEUR 2023, part of BRI's 128th-anniversary celebrations, achieved its economic targets, recording dealing commitments through business matching amounting to USD 81.3 million or approximately IDR 1.26 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 15,500 per USD). This achievement surpassed the initial target of USD 80 million, with 243 business matching sessions conducted by 86 buyers from 30 countries. The event's success demonstrates consistent growth in dealing commitments over the years, emphasizing its positive impact on Indonesia's UMKM sector and the broader economy.
