Bank Indonesia Launches Edu-Tourism Rupiah Program To Encourage Acceleration of Tourism in the Borobudur Temple Area

The Bank Indonesia Central Java Representative Office unveiled the Edu-Tourism Rupiah initiative in Borobudur's vicinity, merging Rupiah education with Borobudur's status as a pivotal tourism hub in Indonesia. Rahmat Dwisaputra, BI Central Java Head, clarified the program's dual aim of fostering Rupiah appreciation and accelerating Central Java's tourism. Beyond instilling pride and deeper Rupiah comprehension, the program concentrates on educating about non-cash transactions via QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard). The Love, Pride, Understand Rupiah endeavor targets Borobudur's surroundings to promote familiarity with digital payments. Bank Indonesia collaborates with local governments and banks to enhance Rupiah understanding, educating bank clients and initiating QRIS exercises for Central Java employees. The involvement of QRIS-enabled banks plays a pivotal role in cultivating digital habits among residents.


The Edu-Tourism Rupiah doesn't solely emphasize education; it actively engages Borobudur's tourism stakeholders. Providing comprehensive insights into the Rupiah's value in daily life, the program includes affixing Rupiah educational stickers on tourist vehicles and setting up dedicated educational spaces. Bank Indonesia's collaborative effort seeks to elevate Borobudur's tourism by disseminating quality Rupiah information, spanning cash and cashless transactions. Strengthening collaborations, particularly expanding QRIS utilization in 2024, represents a significant leap towards digital progression. The program at Borobudur serves as a commitment to boost tourism and deepen public Rupiah understanding, emphasizing collective efforts to enhance tourism and Rupiah literacy. Simultaneously, educational activities engage Borobudur's tourism stakeholders to propagate Rupiah understanding. Collaborative initiatives include Rupiah educational stickers on tourist vehicles and dedicated spaces for Rupiah learning experiences, enriching Borobudur's tourism prospects. These educational strides aim to enrich Borobudur's tourism appeal by imparting comprehensive Rupiah knowledge across various transactions, encompassing both cash and cashless forms.
