The Indonesian Association of Travel Agents (Astindo), Macao Travel Agency Association (MTAA), and MLTSIA (Macao Leisure Tourism Services Innovation Association) have solidified a business partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance cooperation in tourism, innovation, and sustainable growth between Macau and Indonesia. Pauline Suharno, President of Astindo, Teresa Lao, Vice Chairman of MTAA, and Paul Wong, President of MLTSIA, agreed upon this MoU. Representing the MoU signing between Asian Link, Top Holiday - P&E International Travel Co, Ltd were Andy Wong (Director of Travel Services at Asian Link) and Senna Wong (Deputy General Manager at Top Holiday-P&E International Travel Co, Ltd). Participants from both sides connected and explored business opportunities to enhance tourism visits. This collaborative narrative marks a new era in global tourism, with Macau emerging as a beacon of innovation and collaboration.
Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), stated that Indonesia ranks third among Macau's international tourist markets and sixth among the top 10 leading tourist markets. From January to November 2023, Macau welcomed approximately 120 thousand tourists from Indonesia. “By initiating direct flights from Macau to Jakarta, we have opened the door for sustainable growth between the two destinations," said Cheng in a press release. MGTO will actively seek collaboration opportunities between Macau and Indonesia, appreciating the upcoming roadshow, "The Experience Macao," in Jakarta next year. This event is conducted in collaboration with tourism industry partners. "The event will bring surprises to the Indonesian people, strengthening cultural exchange and tourism ties between the two countries," he added. The primary objective of signing this MoU is to foster tourism growth between Macau and Indonesia. The collaborating parties aim to establish mechanisms for cooperation, communication, and coordination in tourism, explore new tourism projects, facilitate collaboration in tourism investment and financing, and organize promotional events as key projects in both Macau and Indonesia. Macao Tourism and MICE Product Updates revealed dynamic innovations in Tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences & exhibitions) products. A total of 104 participants joined the Macao Tourism and MICE Product Updates presentation, and his delegation visited Jakarta to promote and socialize the destination, comprising a series of events, including presentations, a networking dinner, and a minimarket, all aimed at promoting Macau as a multi-asset destination for tourism, MICE, and trade.
